There are many reasons why Oklahoma is a great energy state. We are currently ranked in the top ten in the nation for installed wind energy capacity by Wind Today magazine, number 5 in the production of cleaner, more cost-effective natural gas, and we have the two biggest independent producers of natural gas in the world, Chesapeake Energy and Devon Energy Corporation, headquartered here, as well as other large energy corporations such as SandRidge Energy and Chaparral Energy.
